LIDAR

LIDAR is an optical remote sensing technology that makes use of scattered light in order to find information about a distant target. It is similar to radar, but differs in that radar uses radio waves and lidar often uses lasers. Therefore, lidar images are available in higher resolutions. This image is of Mount St. Helen's, Washington and shows the deformed crater.
