DEM


A digital elevation model or DEM, is a digital representation of ground surface terrain. DEMs are often displayed using a raster graphic and are the most commonly used digital relief maps. As you can see in the image, the lighter(more red) terrain represents the higher elevations contrasted from the darker(more blue) terrain representing the lower elevation points.
