Cartogram

A cartogram is a map in which some thematic mapping variable, such as travel time or Gross National Product, is substituted for land area. This map is obviously simplified and not true to scale because it is meant not to show area of the states but rather a visual count of electoral votes for each presidential candidate. Often times in these types of maps the states are skewed in size to account for differing populations.
